F.A.Q — Horn Related

WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON MOUNTING SPOT FOR THESE HORNS?

On motorcycles, the most common mounting spots are as follows: front frame, side of the front frame, below the frame, using the original horn bolt, below the saddlebags, below the floorboards, and even at the back of the motorcycle.

On cars and pickup trucks, the most common mounting spots are in the engine bay, behind the front bumper, or behind the front grill. We’ve also seen customers install these behind the side panels and inside the front bumper.

DOES IT FIT ON MY MOTORCYCLE OR PICKUP TRUCK?

MotoHorn™ has been developed for the average sized motorcycle and vehicle application — we’ve carefully calculated optimal trumpet dimensions for maximum loudness while keeping the fitment possible for most vehicles.

It is 17.5″ x 4.25″ in size and fits on most vehicles. We’ve seen dual MotoHorn™ installation on a small Chevrolet Bolt electric car and MotoHorn™ has been even installed on multiple sport bikes.

HOW MANY HORNS SHOULD I ORDER?

For passenger cars and motorcycles, 1 should be more than loud. For larger vehicles, such as pickup trucks, we recommend installing 2 or more of these. Installing multiple horns also guarantees a better multi-tone effect and brings up the decibel level. We also recommend keeping the stock horns and activating them simultaneously with MotoHorn™ — this provides even more diverse tones.

HOW DO I WIRE IT IN?

You can wire it to the existing stock horn button or under a new switch. We include the user manual in the package and email a digital version of it to all our customers. Wiring MotoHorn™ is an easy job and requires following just 5 simple steps.

CAN I SEE USER MANUAL?

Yes, you can find car and pickup truck related user manual in this link: https://www.motohorn.com/trainhorn-manual
And MotoHorn™ motorcycle related user manual in this link: https://www.motohorn.com/motohorn-manual

DOES THIS HORN DRAIN MY BATTERY/IS MY BATTERY GOOD ENOUGH?

MotoHorn™ does not drain your vehicle battery. Our compressor uses 20A of current only when activated, meaning that there is no constant battery drain, any battery will be able to handle it.

IS IT MADE OF PLASTIC?

Our horn trumpet and compressor is made of zinc alloy, it is not the cheap plastic replica you might have seen in different advertisements.

I SAW A SIMILAR HORN FOR $20 ON AMAZON, IS IT THE SAME?

Genuine MotoHorn™ is only sold on MotoHorn.com, the production of this horn costs well above $20 USD and is not comparable to the cheap replicas. Our horns are made of metal and have twice as powerful compressors. The $20 USD horns you see are made of plastic and their performance is much weaker than ours.

IS THERE A DELAY, DOES IT NEED TO RECHARGE?

There is no delay at all, our compressor is capable of long-lasting blasts with zero delay. We designed MotoHorn™ in a way that it doesn’t require an air tank, so there is no recharge time.

IF I ORDER 2+ HORNS, DO I CONNECT THEM WITH ONE COMPRESSOR?

Each of our horns comes with a separate compressor and should be installed with its own compressor. This provides the loudest results.

IS IT WATERPROOF?

MotoHorn™ is weatherproof, meaning that you can use it with rain and other weather conditions, however we don’t recommend activating it when the compressor is completely submerged. You should let the compressor dry out if you drive in deep water.

IS IT CORROSION RESISTANT?

Yes, our horns are corrosion resistant and can be also used on boats and different watercraft.
